August 9, 2007--It's so hot!

The weather has been so hot lately! The heat index has gone over a hundred for the last several days. I'm not sure exactly how long this heat wave has lasted, but I'm so glad to have air conditioners in our house! Yesterday we spend the day at Erick's parents' house and they don't have air conditioners. Erick was actually working on a house a couple of blocks away from his parents. He's building on a porch. He's been working in it for the past couple of weeks before or after work (depending on his hours) and on his day off (Wednesdays). It's looking really nice, but I'm anxious for him to be finished with it. He's been working so hard this summer, but it's time to slow down and re-focus our energies on ministry. We had an enjoyable day, even though we were hot and sticky. In the evening we went out and rode on Erick's brother's horses some more. He'd sold the one I rode on last time, so I rode a different one. This one did a lot better at knowing where I wanted him to go. I even got him to run a little bit this time, and found that bumping up and down in the saddle hurts! I need to figure out how to ride a horse the right way, I think, because on TV people look a lot more comfortable riding a horse than I was!
