Last night was our church's Christmas play. I wasn't going to do a play at
first, since we only started going there in September and hardly had any
children. I had thought of doing a live nativity, but as we got closer to
Christmas I started to want to put on a pageant. Since most of the main roles
from last year's pageant--"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever", at our old church
were played by kids who now went to our new church, I decided to just do that
one over again. We only had a few weeks to put it all together, and I gave the
other speaking parts that we were lacking to some of the other kids that have
started coming. The main role is played by my girls' best friend, and she still
had all of the lines memorized from last year.
The church had a trunk
full of costumes up in the balcony, and they were all beautifully made costumes,
too. From what I've heard, this church used the be *the* church in town to
attend. They have so many nice things in storage that haven't been used in a
long time. There was a beautiful manger in the basement, so we dusted it off and
brought it upstairs. Some of the costumes were really big and we had to pin them
up so the kids didn't trip over them.
We had 14 kids altogether in the
play, and a really good turnout to come see it. Since no one could play the
piano, I found instrumental songs on the internet for free and burned them into
a CD. It turned out really nice--much nicer than last year's play. One little
angel wandered about on the stage, picking her nose, but at the age of three
anything you do is cute.
Today we have snow
on the ground. It looks like we're going to have a white Christmas. I have four
days to cook and clean. It's nice to have a break from school. I start up again
on January 11th.
