January 22, 2010--Auditions

Yesterday we had auditions for the play I will be directing this spring for our homeschool co-op. We'll be putting on Anne of Green Gables. We had 27 students try out and I was able to give everyone a role. Some of them were double cast, since I had only five boys try out.

Some of the kids were really, really good! We had a hard time choosing who would be Anne. There were four of them that did exceptionally well at that part, and three of them had dark hair. The other girl had short hair and braces. We ended up choosing one of the dark-haired girls, so she's going to have to wear a wig or something. There were a few people who looked closer to the part of Anne but wouldn't have played the part as well.

Jay is going to be Gilbert Blythe. The girl who is playing Anne is actually a girl who has a crush on him, and I think he likes her, too. Joy is going to be Jane Andrews and Sarah is Josie Pie. Abby will be Bessie Wright, and Rachel will be an extra.

The kids are really excited about the play. I know it's going to be a lot of work, but I think it's going to be good. I only took four classes this semester so I'd have the time to work on the play, and these classes are pretty easy anyway, at least so far.
