May 14, 2009--Kitten rescue

We have a couple of kittens that Jay found under the deck a few weeks ago. When he first found them he thought they were the kittens from last year that we never found after we got back from Louisiana, but I told him that they wouldn't be kittens anymore. There are two girl kittens. One is a gray tiger striped kitten named Muffy, and the other is a black and white kitten named Bandit because she has a black mask on her face. Bandit is kind of wild, but Muffy is really laid back and just likes to find a hole to climb into so she can be cozy and sleep. Muffy if my favorite and I want to keep her.

Today Muffy got out and climbed up into the van engine and found a snuggly little place, and then couldn't get back out. We couldn't reach back in there--even the kids' arms weren't skinny enough to get to her. We tried poking a stick in there and pushing it against her to encourage her to find her way out, but it was pretty clear she couldn't. Just about the time I was ready to get Erick's help, she managed to poke her head out just enough we were able to grab her and wiggle her out of there. Muffy is unharmed and hopefully will stay in the house now. Here is a picture of her stuck in the engine:

Muffy--safe at last!
