Last night was night two of our play. Two down, one to go! It went well. Some
scenes went better than the first night, and some of them weren't quite as good.
Erick took some pictures but I haven't taken them off my camera yet. We have
only a couple of hours at home before we have to leave again for the next
performance, and we need to get our Christmas tree up this afternoon, and it's
Rachel's 4th birthday today, too. So no time for uploading pictures today!
Erick got his make-up on time last night, so that was better. We had
quite a bit of trouble with microphones. Mine was pretty well behaved most of
the time, although it was too quiet for one song. I don't know why--it was on
and it was not muted. I still had to use a bobby pin to use it on because they
never found the mic clip. Two of the other mics broke, and the Christmas Eve
scene with the children didn't work too well because two of the kids didn't have
mics. I just leaned really close to them during their parts in the song so their
voices would pick up in my mic, and it worked okay but it was still hard to hear
them.
As for the moonlight path scene--the sound people sabatoged us!
The night before (when the glass didn't break) they said it was a technical
glitch. One of the sound people said he was praying, "God, if you have any sense
of humor, let it break when she throws the rock!" They assured us that it was
working fine today, but when George went to throw his rock, instead of a pane of
glass shattering, we heard this horrible cross between a shriek and wail. I was
taken completely by surprise. I just stood there with my mouth hanging open,
trying to figure out what to do next. The audience was laughing--they thought it
was great. We finally regained our composure and he ad libbed something about a
cat being in there, and we went on. They'd better let us do it right tonight! We
need at least one good take for the DVD! It was funny, though.
The
audience loved it. I think they liked it better last night than they did on
Friday. One more to go, if I can keep up the energy!
