January 17, 2007--Homeschool talent show

Friday night was our homeschool talent show. It's been a long time since I've been to one! It was odd not being one of the acts. We had twelve acts, and four of them were violin solos. When I was being homeschooled, it seemed that piano was the homeschool instrument of choice, but now violin has emerged at the top of the list. We had a good variety of acts. There was a drum solo, two piano solos, a short skit, a song, the aforementioned violin solos, a funny story, a dance, and a collection of poetry. My kids did the dance, and it got the best response of the night. I was so proud of them. They did a Jewish circle dance, and my mom said it made her cry. That evening my sister-in-law went into labor. Her water actually broke at the talent show, but I didn't know that at the time. Her baby was born the next evening. I have a new nephew! We went and saw him last night finally, but I forgot to take my camera. Erick had been in a minor accident on the way home (he wasn't hurt) and it set us back quite a bit, so our evening was rather crazy. I haven't posted as much lately as I normally do because I've been incredibly busy on various craft projects. I've been sewing curtains for the windows, making a quilt for our pastor and his wife and the children they are adopting to hang on the wall (the quilt, not the children) and knitting a scarf for my grandmother.
