January 18, 2004--Potty training

Rachel is potty training! She is finally catching on, too. I was getting frustrated at first because she would sit on the potty forever and then as soon as I finally let her up, she'd have an accident. Today she reached a milestone--she went by herself! I gave her a Hershy Kiss as a reward. I've been giving her one everytime she goes. I am starting to wonder when I should stop giving her candy for going, though. Will she think for the rest of her life she's entitled to a piece of candy everytime she uses the potty?
That could cause serious problems!

Oh, it will be so nice though to have her out of diapers. Then I'll only have Timothy in diapers. I can't wait. Of course, we'll probably still be buying Pull-Ups for some time yet, but at least she'll only have to wear them to bed and church.

I remember with my first two we didn't use Pull-Up at all. They potty-trained much faster. I really think Pull-Ups prolong the process, but on the other hand, they help with the mess factor. They also make my kids more welcome in church when they are wearing a Pull-Up during those early days.
