November 26, 2006--"The Christians Who Don't Do Anything"

I was inspired to write a song today by the sermon our pastor preached. It's to the tune of "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything."

We are the Christians
Who don’t do anything
We just go to church
And sit around
And if you ask us
To do anything,
We just tell you,
“It’s not my gifting.”

Well, I’ve never sung in choir and I’ve never been an usher
And I’ve never preached a sermon ‘cause I never preach at all
And I’ve never come on work days since I don’t look good in work clothes
And I’ve never kept a sinner out of hell.

Well, I never give to missions and I don’t exactly tithe
But I never miss a sermon so I’m doing pretty well,
And I never bring my Bible and I never talk to strangers
And I’ve never kept a sinner out of hell.

Well, I’ve never raised my hands and I’ve never shouted loudly
And I can’t give a testimony ‘cause I have nothing to tell
And I never go to prayer meeting cause it’s too long and boring
And I’ve never kept a sinner out of hell.
