September 3, 2004--epidural rant

I had a baby almost a week ago. I am just finally getting on to blog about it because I've had the nastiest headache of my life for the last week. I still doubt I am going to be able to say everything I want to about it, except to rant a bit that NO ONE told me this could happen. NO ONE told me that there is a risk of getting an awful headache when you have an epidural. NO ONE told me what the odds are of this happening, either. I still don't know! Is this one in a thousand? One in three hundred? One in twenty? Am I just so lucky as to be one of the rare instances where it goes wrong? And the lady who roomed with me, who also had problems with her epidural--what are the chances that both of our epidurals went wrong? Grrrrrr. If I hadn't had that stupid epidural I would have been feeling good days ago. As it is I'm just finally able to sit up for an extended amount of time.
