August 13m 2008--State Fair

We went to the State Fair yesterday. Jay had a free ticket, since his Weather project went, and one of my sisters ended with an extra ticket so she let me use it. Some friends from church took the rest of the kids, and Erick and Jay and I went. It was nice not having to keep an eye on all of them in that crowd, although Jay is enough of a challenge by himself sometimes.

His weather project got a blue ribbon, so he did really well. I'm glad I had him re-do his poster before he sent it. I saw my sister's craft project there, too. She re-bound her copies of Ted Dekker'r "Red", "White" and "Black". She does a beautiful job of book-binding.

We played a game of miniature golf, and Jay beat both of us. We fed animals at the petting zoo, watched a horse show (the kind where they are all dressed up and pulling fancy wagons) and ate fair food. It was a rip-off, but at least we had brought our own water and didn't have to pay $2.50 for a drink. I bought a giant tenderloin sandwich for $6.50 and ended up dripping a big blob of mustard on my jeans. Later on we bought double-dipped ice cream cones.

We did a lot of walking, and I'm a bit on the sore side today, but not too bad. In a little bit we need to go pick up the rest of our family, and there will probably be more canning to do later on today.
