Yesterday was Sarah's 9th birthday, and we went to the Creation Museum in
Kentucky. We found out that senior pastors and their spouses get in free, and
their children get in half price, so we were all able to go for just over thirty
dollars.
It is a really nice museum! They didn't spare any expense. It's
in a beautiful facility, has the most amazing landscaping, and the displays are
state of the art. Here is a picture of the building from the nature trails
across the pond:
There is a walk-through museum that tells the story of creation, and the affects on the world through the fall, demonstrates how the church has been negatively affected through the acceptance of evolution and the rejection of the Bible, and then ends with a video presenting the gospel called, "The Last Adam." There are some amazingly beautiful displays in this section. They have one room that shows the Garden of Eden and is filled with trees and flowers and animals, with Adam naming the animals.
As you walk through you can see the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and Adam and Eve as they are deceived and rebel against God. This is Adam and his son working his garden after the ground has been cursed.
The Noah's Ark room and the flood room were my favorite parts. There is a wall that is a portion of the ark, and Noah and his sons are building it, and the wives are making baskets.
In the next room there are dioramas showing the ark being loaded, the insides of the rooms, the ark floating and little tiny people on the tops of the mountains in despair, and more.
There is a video showing the perspective of various people as a giant tsunami rises up and the flood begins to swallow the land. It just gives me the chills to watch it.
I was really impressed with the museum. They were not at all shy about proclaiming Jesus throughout everything they did. It's more than just a Creation Museum, it's a Christian Museum. There were so many people there, too! I had read critism in the past that Ken Ham had overbuilt this, that he'd never get his money back because no one was going to want to spend money to go see such an overtly Christian display, but it was packed. There were people waiting at the doors before it opened, and it only got more crowded as the day went by. They had to open an overflow theater to get everyone in to see "The Last Adam", which was one of the best presentations of the gospel I'd ever seen. Ken Ham and the people at AnswersinGenesis are doing a work of God there at the Creation Museum, and if you get the opportunity to go, you should go and take your unsaved friends with you.
