September 26,2008--Jay's lymph node

I realized I hadn't posted about what's going on with Jay. Last week he went to a Ranger camp, and Saturday showed me a lump on his leg, up near the groin area. We kept an eye on it over the weekend, and by Monday it hadn't changed, so we went to the doctor.

It's an enlarged lymph node, and the doctor said that usually that's a sign of infection in children. They call it "Cat Scratch Fever" although it doesn't necessarily mean it came from a cat. It's just their nickname for it because it can be caused by any sort of cut or scrape, even a cat scratch. She subscribed a broad spectrum antibiotic and he's got to take it twice a day for ten days. Next Wednesday he has another appointment to look at it again, and if nothing's changed she said he might need a biopsy to find out what's going on with it.

So far I think it might be a little less prominant, but it's hard to tell. It's still there, anyway, and he's been on the antibiotic since Monday evening. We're praying that it will go away soon.
