There's this couple at our church, about the same age as my parents. In fact, two of their children are mine and Erick's age. Sweet couple, good sense of humor, for which I am extremely grateful after Rachel's little stunt this evening.
The husband has a shaved head, and he still looks pretty young. His wife has gray hair, so although they are the same age (actually he's a few months older) he does look like he could be younger than she is.
They spent the afternoon with us, and the kids had fun with them, and this evening after church Rachel was playing with the husband, begging for gum, etc., and finally decided that it was time for him to leave. "Take your wife and go!" she said, pushing him towards another lady in our church, a pretty redhead, who is not his wife.
The man told her that she isn't his wife, and Rachel asked him, "Who is your wife, then?"
He pointed towards his wife. "You remember her. We were over at your house all afternoon."
"Why did you marry such an old woman?" asked Rachel.
I about died with embarrasment when they told me. The ladies all had a good laugh over it, of course, though. I imagine it's going to be awhile before we live this one down!
