February 7, 2006--Siding and moving

Well, Erick is considering taking that siding job after all. We did some figuring, and if the guy can pay him either in advance or in installments, Erick could make more money doing that job than he could staying at the job he is at until the end of May. He hates his job and he's been there four years already. He hardly gets sleep and he's been stressed out over it for the past couple of years because of the way things are being run. The last straw was when they moved him to weekend supervisor and then told him that he was only budgeted 14 hours a week for that position. He needs at least 20 and they knew that when they switched him over, so now he's having to work 14 on one clock number and then the rest on another clock number. Now they are wanting him to clock in and out on each building's clock number that he supervises. Some buildings are budgeted for as little as five minutes of his time.

So we're thinking if he works at this job until Spring Break, then we could take a trip to Indiana over Spring Break and get his old metal brake (or break, I'm not sure which) that he needs to do the siding job and we could take up a load of stuff while we are at it and put it in storage. Then he can do this siding job over the next couple of months instead of working at the cleaning company. He get to sleep more and could set his own hours and do something he enjoys for a change. The guy also has a small roofing job Erick could do as well if he gets the time.

We have set May 29th as our moving day, Lord willing. That is our 10th anniversary. We would love to be able to move as our annivesary present. We'll take another trip to Indiana right after graduation to rent a place and take up a second load of stuff, and hopefully land a job, (he's going to apply at ServiceMaster, which is another cleaning company local to the church he is going to be working at) and then head out for good on Monday the 29th. That gives us plenty of time to do the last bit of work on this house.

We're getting excited about moving.
