January 29, 2005--Playing in the snow

We had the most perfect snow day today! It's the kind of snow that's wet enough to easily roll into snowballs bigger than you can lift. It's not even that cold out, so the kids were able to stay out there and play for quite awhile without getting frostbite or anything. All of them (except Timothy, of course) went out to play, and I watched them through the back window. I'm not big on getting wet and cold myself. They all made snowmen. Joy made two of them, a boy and a girl. She put coats and hats on them and everything. They are still standing and they are very cute.

Jay made two as well, but neither exist anymore. His first one the head fell off and so he stomped it to bits and then made another one and it's head fell off too and so he stomped it to bits, too. I saw him head over to Joy's snowmen and I called him over to the window and made sure he understood he was not to stomp her snowmen.

Sarah made a snowman and hers fell over and she stomped it, too. She didn't bother making a second one. Instead she busied herself throwing snowballs at everyone, including me. There are still several snowballs stuck on the window pane. She also ate some snow, made a snow angel, and filled up a cup with snow and dumped it out.

Abby and Rachel even made a snowman together. They had problems past the first snowball, though, and eventually just stuck a carrot into the bottom snowball. Later Rachel came along and ate the carrot. She's been eating quite a few carrots. I sent them out with a whole bag of carrots and the only two left are the ones in Joy's snowmen. Rachel is still eating one.

I had as much fun as any of them just watching them.
