My girls woke me up this morning just before 7:00 to tell me
there was a surprise on the kitchen table. I asked them what it was, and they
just told me to come and see. I had a good idea of what it might be, and I was
right. They had gotten out bowls and spoons and cereal and milk and had set the
table for breakfast. They were so proud of themselves.
I remember doing that
when I was little, too. It brought back such memories. Joy said, "Do you know
why we did this? Because we love you!" I just treasure such expressions of my
kids' love. They said they didn't know what was on the menu, and they didn't
know if it was supposed to be a cooking thing, but since they didn't know how to
cook they just decided to make cereal. Muffins were on the menu, actually, but I
wasn't going to tell them that.
