May 29, 2004--Quilting
I'm finally trying to work on a quilt that I started over two
years ago and still haven't finished. It's very big and definately the hardest
quilt I've ever attempted. Problem is, my old treadle sewing machine isn't
working well anymore. I spent quite a bit of time working on it, greasing it and
cleaning it, trying to tighten the belt, finding the bobbins, and replacing the
bobbin holder with a long nail, to discover that the plate to the bobbin
compartment is missing. I want to get a new sewing maching. Erick wants to fix
the old one (it's his great-grandmother's) and then save up for an expensive
one, but I don't want to sink money into parts for this one when I could just
take the money and get a cheap one for now that works and backstitches, as well.
