November 13, 2004--My 26th birthday
Today I am 26. It's also Saturday. I had hopes of sleeping in this morning, but no such luck.
First, at 5:45 AM, Joy came knocking on my door to tell me that she was hot and asking me if I'd turned the heat on again. Yes, I turned the heat on. It's getting cold at nights! You see, when Erick's sisters came down to help when I was having Timothy, they re-arranged the girls' room, which was nice of them, but now their bunk bed is under the vent. So hot air gets blown on Joy's legs at night, and she can't sleep. I told her to bring her blankets upstairs and sleep on the couch. By the way, we have a really nice new couch now. One of Erick's professors, who is also the newest pastor on staff at our church, gave it to us because they were redecorating. It's gorgeous!
Anyway, Joy did bring her blankets up, but I don't think she ever went to sleep. All the kids were soon up and playing. After a little while, they remembered it was my birthday and they began come in, one at a time, to wish me a happy birthday.
First one kid would open the door a crack and whisper, "Mom! Happy birthday!" and I'd say, "Thank you. Go away." and then another one would come and open the door and say, "It's your birthday, Mom! Happy birthday!" and I'd say, "Thank you. Go away." Each kid repeated the process, then they cycled back through again asking if they could play on the computer or watch T.V.
I managed to get a little more sleep, but I didn't get to sleep in like I wanted. Ho hum.
