Feb 10, 2004--Up early

I got up early today. I've been getting up early lately all by myself, without the help of alarm clocks, children waking up, or Erick dragging me out of bed by my toes. It's been strange. In some ways it's nice. I kind of enjoy the quietness of the morning before the kids are up. It's nice being able to take a shower without that fear in the back of my mind of all the things that the kids might be doing during that time. In other ways, it's a little disconcerting. Am I turning into a morning person? Have I lost the ability to sleep until noon? Will this pass when our lives go back to normal?
I could understand if this was because I went to bed early last night, but we were out all day and back late. Sarah was so tired she went to bed with her shoes still on her feet. She didn't even wait for supper. I was tired, too, and yet at 6:00AM sharp I woke up, just as if an alarm clock had gone off. It's strange.
