November 29, 2007--churches...

Erick's résumé is on file with the district now. He actually didn't get it sent in until yesterday, because we were waiting on them to send us a form that we had to send with it. They got it today and contacted us and sent us the list of open churches. In the Indiana district of the Assemblies of God, they don't post their openings online like a lot of the other districts to. You have to go through the district. They will pray over lists of the pastors who are seeking churches and the churches that are seeking pastors and make recommendations. It's not like in some denominations where you are appointed, however. You still candidate and they vote on you. If it's not a good fit either way, it's not like a recommendation from the district is binding in any way. We also have the church list, and we're free to contact the churches directly to send in his résumé. There are some open down in southern Indiana, and a few up north, and a couple out east. There is one that's not terribly far from us, maybe a couple of hours away. We've been to the area a few times because there's a big tractor show they have out there. Erick's grandparents and brother like to take their tractors out there and show them when they can. It would be interesting to move out that way. We're definitely going to be praying over this process, that God would place us where He wants us, and that the timing would be according to His plan and purpose.
