December 16, 2007--dinner theatre, concert, and co-op

Well, tonight is the last dress rehearsal for the dinner theater. I'm starting to feel pretty tired, but it will be over soon. Abby and Joy are both doing really well, and I'm hoping to get some good pictures tonight. The girl who helped teach us the dances hurt her back and had to drop out of the play. I am taking her place in one of the dances, so I have four dances I'm in now. This one is a fifties dance with poodle skirts. Last Sunday I stayed after church for dance practice for about twenty minutes so I could start to learn it before I rushed off to the first of our three Handel's "Messiah" concerts. It went really well, except that the last song just kind of fell apart a bit. I don't think anyone noticed, though. It is the "Amen Chorus" and it's the most difficult song I've ever learned in my life. Here's a picture of us during the concert. I'm in the black dress, by my brother at the top near the left side of the picture.

Tomorrow morning we have a co-op day with the Konos group. We're learning about the Amish, so all of my kids are dressed up like Amish. I made them little Amish Kapps and they look so cute. I had some dresses I had saved out from some hand-me-downs someone had given me that were plain-looking that I could adjust to fit them. For Jay, I cut out some black straps and pinned them on him to make suspenders. Tim is just going to wear his bibs and a plain blue shirt. The boys are going to have a barn raising while the girls cook for them. The barn raising is just going to be with Lincoln Logs because of the weather (we have snow on the ground already!) but it will still be fun. Then we're going to have discussion on Amish beliefs and lifestyle and see what the kids think about it. Here's a picture of the girls in their costumes.
