October 20, 2007--Dissecting a rooster and a princess party

Yesterday my littlest sister turned nine. I'm pretty sure it was Erick's sister's birthday yesterday, too, and one of his brother's birthdays today, but I could have them mixed up. It gets difficult to keep birthdays straight, and this month is pretty full of birthdays. In the morning, we went over to their house to dissect a rooster for school. We wanted to look at the lungs, especially, but we didn't get to blow them up like my mom wanted to. Chicken lungs are built a bit differently than rabbit lungs (which is what we used when I was in school). I bribed Erick to kill the rooster for me by baking him a spice cake. He loves my spice cake. My sister had a princess party, and all four of my girls were invited, plus four other girls. They all dressed up pretty and they put on make-up and did hair and nails, and wore tiaras and watched princess movies. They also had a sleepover. My brother came over and spent the night with Jay. Rachel didn't get to spend the night because she was too little. She was tired and cranky when she got back. I asked her what she watched, and she said, "It was a Barbie movie and it was stupid and evil."
