September 11, 2007--Dinner Theatre

Last night we went to the call-out meeting for this year's dinner theatre at church. We're going to be doing one called "All On a Christmas Day. We saw the DVD last night." It's pretty good--has a LOT of dancing in it. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. It has some really silly scenes. One of the first scenes has all these pregnant mothers in labor doing this dance. From what I understand they are actually standing inside a box with wheels with a hole in the lid, but they have it made up to look like a hospital bed and that they are actually lying on the bed. So all these beds are running around the stage with these pregnant women on them, doing this crazy dance. I laughed so hard watching that! The plot has to do with this old man who has had a stroke, and his granddaughter and great-granddaughter are looking through a photo album at Christmases in the old man's past. It goes through a lot of different scenes in different places and time periods, and each one has a big song and dance number. I signed up to be a dancer. The choir director passed our practice schedules, and the dancers are scheduled to practice every other Wednesday night during church. It's a problem for me, though, because I help out in Prims class on Wednesday night. I think I'm the only person in the cast that it's going to be an issue for. I called the Prims teacher and told her my dilemna and she's going to see if she can find a helper for the off weeks. She really needs a helper--she's had some kind of illness for about a year that's causing her pain and swelling and a rash, and it's getting worse. When it first started her husband had just been laid off and so they didn't have insurance. He finally has a position with benefits again, so she's finally able to start looking for treatment. She's going to have to get testing to diagnose this problem, but she said from what she's read it looks like the symptoms for Lupus. If you could please pray for her, I'd appreciate it. I will probably help her out this next Wednesday anyway. I can skip the first practice--I'm a quick learner when it comes to dance anyway, and it's not going to hurt to miss the first one. I'm not sure why they have a practice tomorrow anyway, since she hasn't even announced the cast yet.
